Skepta’s been a bit on the quiet side since the release of his 2016 album, Konnichiwa. The Mercury Award winning album was reviewed by NME as “a landmark in British street music, a record good enough to take on the world without having to compromise one inch in the process”, so it’s fair enough that he’s taken some time to fine-tune this next one.
Entitled ‘Ignorance Is Bliss’, the album is composed of 13 so-far-untitled tracks and will be released on May 31st. Official artwork was released on his social feeds on April 28th, and seems to show a 3×3 grid of thermal images, maybe giving some clue as to what themes the album will land on. Judging by the cover, technology, violence and parenthood are all themes to watch out for. Skepta recently became a father so this album may take a somewhat different tone to his other work.
Ignorance Is Bliss is available to pre-order now.
