R Kelly, Ignition hitmaker and (alleged) sex pest has a bizarre excuse as to why he lost his recent sex abuse case, and it’s not what you might expect. The singer’s lawyers are claiming that Kelly “suffers from a learning disability that adversely affects his ability to read,” … “in essence he cannot.”
Whilst this sounds like the desperate defence of a financially broken man, who reportedly has only $625 left to his name and string of cases still to fight…it probably is just that – and with such a weight of evidence it’s hard to feel sympathy regardless.
Kelly’s recent troubles began when the documentary series Surviving R Kelly aired in early January, detailing scores of allegations against the singer, some from women who were legally children when allegedly abused by him.
Kelly was served his court papers whilst in Cook County Jail for failing to pay child support, only being released after a fan who did not want to be identified paid his dues. What will happen next to Kelly is unclear. He clearly can’t afford to settle financially with the winner of the civil case against him, and may have trouble funding representation for the other looming trials.
One thing is certain though; R Kelly is not about to have him some fun.
