It’s dark. It’s late. You’re walking home alone, slightly buzzed, earphones in and stepping in time to the music. You turn the corner and see your house at the end of the road, but there’s someone outside waiting. They look like something between Deadmau5 and a Telly Tubby. They drop a TV on your porch and run. WTF just happened?

If you live in the Hampshire area of Virginia, USA, this story might be familiar to you already. Over the last weekend, several neighbourhoods have reported the same bizarre story of a man wearing a TV on his head leaving old TV sets outside people’s homes, before disappearing into the night.

The despicable criminal did the rounds on sunday night, visiting around 50 properties and dropping an old TV at each, all whilst wearing his elaborate headgear.

Speaking to WTVR-TV about the bizarre act of apparent kindness, resident Jim Brooksbank said: “He’s committed to his trade.

“He wants to be known as the TV Santa Claus. I don’t know.”

“We got an old tube-style TV, 13 inch.”

Although police have responded to calls and collected all TV sets, they don’t believe anybody in particular was targeted so are treating it as a prank.

Mr Brooksbank praised the police for their assistance, saying: “The police did a great job of coming up and collecting them all.”

However, this isn’t the first time residents have been subjected to a delivery of unexpected TVs. The exact same incident occurred last summer, leading many to believe it’s a recurring joke.

Mr Kroll said: “I think it’s just a prank. Some college students who are just bored.”

Mr Brooksbank then added: “It’s summer, and people are getting ready to go back to school. Maybe TV man was just ready to strike and put a little humour in our lives.”
