Here’s some news that might shock you if you didn’t know it already – Dora The Explorer is getting a live-action movie, and it arrives in UK cinemas this week.

The basic premise is this. What if sweet, naive, curious Dora never fully grew up, and just wanted to keep on explorin? Now teenage and in high school, Dora seems to have a predictably hard time fitting in with normal life. Luckily the life of Dora is an exciting one, so she doesn’t have to wait too long before a school trip takes her back to the jungle in search of a city of gold.

Here our Dora is played by Isabela Moner, a Peruvian-American actress who made her name first on Nickelodeon’s 100 Things to Do Before High School. She also played the film roles of Izabella in Transformers: The Last Knight, and Lizzy in Instant Family. Michael Peña (Luis in Ant-Man) plays Dora’s Father, with Danny Trejo providing the voice of Boots the Monkey.

Dora and the Lost City of Gold is set for release in the UK on August 16th.
